Recruitment Hacking, Part 10: Hacking your ATS with third party apps

This blog post is number 10 in the Recruitment Hacking series. You can see all of them under the Recruitment Hacking category and to get the entire series and more download the Cornerstone Recruitment Hacking Handbook

The recruitment market is awash with new technologies designed to make hiring better, faster and cheaper but in many cases, unless they are tightly integrated into the ATS, a lot of the efficiency is lost in duplication of effort and multiple logins. But some of the most popular add-ons for an ATS today are:

  • Multi-posting of jobs to job boards, aggregators etc.
  • Video interviewing and screening.
  • Federated/aggregated search across multiple databases such as LinkedIn and Monster as well as the ATS.

Key Recruitment Hacking integration partners working with CSOD are HireVue and Broadbean but what if that latest piece of tech is not integrated? Can you still get enough of a benefit?

Scenario One

Not using the new tech gives you zero improvement. Using it standalone may give you a 6 point improvement. Full integration may give you a 10 point improvement but don't miss out on a 6 point improvement just because it is not perfect.

Scenario Two

If you use an ATS from a vendor with an open API then see if the third party can do the integration. For example, CSOD recently launched Cornerstone Edge which is the foundation of their Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering. It allows customers to integrate their Cornerstone Unified Talent Management suite with other workforce systems to maximise their human capital management investments. Using Cornerstone Edge, both technical and non-technical users also have the flexibility to create new applications to customise the user experience, extend their talent data, or tailor features for their unique business needs.

You can find out more about Cornerstone Edge at http://edge.csod.com.

As a Recruitment Hacker you need to keep an open mind on gain vs. perfection and as more and more vendors come to market you may want to try standalone before you put too much effort into trying to achieve perfection. 80% done is better than never done!

To find out more about the CSOD Recruitment concept download the Recruitment Hacking eBook and stay in touch for constant updates. The market will be tough for a few years so every trick you can exploit is going to be needed.
