AI and training - how the algorithms can help

August 8, 2018 Marc Altimiras

Corporate training is undergoing an unprecedented change – an evolution that is related to the disruption from AI, alongside new consumer attitudes and methodologies.

Now, more than ever, constant training is a real need and must update skills for the work that will exist in the future. Artificial intelligence is playing a vital role in corporate training and is currently helping to transform the world of work. With the rise of AI, the HR department has a new resource to support employee learning and development. If companies want to grow, they have to innovate, and the HR department is no different. It’s one of the first company departments that needs to.

As technology develops and the applications of it increase, businesses can no longer afford to ignore the change.  Companies must implement technology that will benefit both the company’s performance and its employees, and a focus on training and development is essential if businesses want to get the most out of their employees.

Corporate training is influenced by people’s online habits, such as the ability to search, discover and personalise the experience. According to experts, the challenge is to make the practice of searching and consuming training as rewarding as watching content on Netflix or sharing lists on Spotify.

By using AI, employees can receive personalised training and development suggestions, offering them suggested content based on their previous history and trends. The ability to personalise training not only encourages employees to learn, but it ensures that they are being trained on the correct content. Content that suits their needs and skill set.

If businesses want to remain competitive and stay ahead of the game, they need to innovate. The HR department has a responsibility to ensure the company’s employees have access to learning and training materials to develop their skills. Using innovative technology to do this not only helps employees with their own personal development but it also contributes to the success of the business.
